River Park, Sacramento, CA

Bordered by H Street to the south, the American River to the north and east, and the Southern Pacific Railroad to the west, River Park is a nature-lover’s paradise. Two famed parks are situated within the district, as well as a large riverside habitat, a dense tree population and two public entrances to the American River.

River Park has been recognized by Sacramento Magazine as one of the best neighborhoods in Sacramento. The absence of major through-roads make River Park’s 1.2 square miles a place of peace and tranquility for its inhabitants — a blend of older homeowners who originally moved to the area in the 1950s and 1960s, and young families just starting out. One-story ranch style homes are the predominant architectural style in River Park’s pretty tree-lined streets.

The River Park Neighborhood Association sponsors annual events such as the Fourth of July kids’ bicycle parade and festival, Pops in the Park concert, and Screen on the Green outdoor movie nights. River Park is also home to several clubs and organizations, youth soccer and baseball leagues, and other committees promoting community organization.

In addition to offering easy access to Sacramento State University, River Park has the distinction of having the only elementary school in the district to feature the PYP International Baccalaureate Program (the acclaimed Caleb Greenwood Elementary School).
